First Wedding

Today I have photographed a wedding for the first time. Although I've not ever claimed to be a wedding specialist, or even offered the service, I was asked to do it for a friend of the family, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Having never really had to work with people in such a capacity, I didn't really know what to expect. However, with such a co-operative group of people, I feel the day went well (photography-wise), and I'm pleased with the images I got. Learning on-the-job I believe is the most effective, and especially having nobody to guide me, I had to make decisions that I felt best suited the situation in order to give the client the pictures of their special day.

Learning how to work with large groups of people was at first a bit daunting, and trying to think who/and where I wanted them in the picture was a lot to take in, but that's what this job requires - the ability to plan a step ahead so it all runs smoothly- I can't imagine the marrying couple being impressed if their day was interrupted by a clumsy photographer!

Wedding photography had never before appealed to me at all, but maybe because I'd never had any experience, and presumed I would not enjoy it. However, having broken the ice, I'd give it another go.
