Another hand-made photo frame

Beech picture frame with one of my panoramic photographs
Been a while since I did one of these, not like I'm going into business or anything... but I'd saved a pice of beech that we cut down at work a couple of months ago, and have been thinking what I could make with it. Not having access to proper picture framing tools, I had to improvise - having no way of pinning 4 angled lengths of wood together, I decided to make it out of one solid piece.

Using chisels, and a jigsaw (a dodgy old plane was used as well, but the handle dropped off - hence very wonky edges!!) I managed to cut a rough aperture - far from perfect I know, but there's probably better tools and methods of doing it!

It's interesting though to make these, and I have control over the shape, and texture of the wood in which to display my work - this one has been sanded to smooth, but I've intentionally left some of the darker wood (from a the surface that had previously dried) to make it a little bit more interesting, rustic looking.

No doubt I'll get some more of these done, with the standard of workmanship hopefully getting better!
